Rachel
has been working on animation and museum resource with puppeteer Emma
Boor of Wild
Boor Ideas on geology interpretation for a partnership
project between the Hancock
Museum, Newcastle, Killhope
Museum, Weardale and Harehope
Quarry, Weardale. The first phase of the project has
been research on different ways of presenting geology to young audiences.
This has culminated in It Rocks!,
an animation and puppet show presented at Killhope Museum as part
of the North Pennines Northern Rocks Geology Festival. The show has
been re-worked for Harehope Quarry and was shown on September 24th
allowing visitors the chance to explore the newly developed site.
See below for pictures from the event.
The research undertaken during the project will feed into a mobile
Rocks Bocks resource that can be used for outreach work to go to schools
and other museums in the area.
