Going to have a week of pictures and very little writing - I feel I have run out of things to say ...

Tuesday 29th November 05   -35°

Work on animation and flash all day. In the evening have started collecting English words that are not used in Canada and Canadian words that are not used in England. The plan is to make a dictionary of these words for the future ease of communication across the pond.

Bub-ble 'n' squeak (bub-el 'n' skweeek) English meal consisting of left overs mainly vegetables such as cabbage and potatoes, fried up in a pan.
Pou-tine (poo-teen) High calorie Canadian accompaniment served on chips consisting of gravy and cheese curd or cheese. Looks positively mingin'.

Wednesday 30th November 05   -37°C

Working with students at Robert Service School taking photographs about Dawson. First we photographed the outdoor clothes students have to wear to keep warm. We could not go outside to take pictures. On the way home my eye lashes totally froze up. The school is only a 5 minute walk from the residence!

Trying to catch ravens to photograph - impossible - they are way smarter - everytime you stop they watch you and then move to a spot where they can watch you from a safe distance. They play on the roof tops where there are huge banks of snow waiting to plonk on top of somebodies head no doubt!

Bright yellow dog piss marks in the snow.

Thursday 1st December 05  -37°C

Kerry eats poutine (a lovely mixture of gravy and cheese ummmm) at Nora's Diner at the ice arena - we found out curling was happening so we went along in the evening. I have bruises on my knees when I was learning how to currrrrrl.

Friday 2nd December 05   -38°C

Val and Matte putting christmas lights up and getting in a tangle.

Saturday 3rd December 05   -43°C
Workshop at KIAC and computer lab - unsurprisingly no one showed until Matte showed up at 12 after drinking way too much the night before and having a hangover. Anyway worked on bringing material together in Flash and got some help from Jessie at the computer lab. We didn't solve all the problems but at least I did do something. Matte brought some cool mitts that his Grandma had beaded and some photographs which he will work on in Flash to animate.
Sunday 4th December 05   -35°C

Due to go to Dempster Highway today with John Overell and Lulu but it is still really really cold. It was decided that this was not going to be a good idea. Seems like Sundays are always like this - lets do this - oh no it is way too cold - oh no there is not enough snow - its too windy - oh my left arm is slightly hairier than the other one - my ingrowing toe nail needs some moisteriser and the cold will play havoc with my bunions. What I initially thought was cloud that would warm things up a little is actually ice fog. Dawson gets this from being near the river.
